Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, and received my Master’s Degree in Education from Cambridge College. I have worked in an array of settings within the community, working with people in a spectrum of mental health and substance use disorders and treatment, and with people of all ages.
I am trained in person (client)-centered and strength-based approaches in counseling and work from a “wholeness” and wellness perspective with my clients. I utilize an eclectic skill set including Person-centered therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT, Positive Psychology, Motivational interviewing, Solution-Focused therapy, Mindfulness, and Existential therapy. I also incorporate health and nutritional aspects into my work for a “whole person” approach to healing. I am trauma-sensitive/informed, and sensitive to culture and religious/spiritual aspects of clients.
Specializations in the treatment and management of depression, anxiety, most psychiatric disorders, sobriety maintenance, relationship and work issues, behavior changes re: wellness issues such as nutrition and exercise, and stress management. I work with individuals, and with parents and couples recovering from and/or dealing with mental health and substance use disorders. I also provide consultations to individuals and families who are experiencing mental health, school and behavioral issues for the first time, and can provide information re: community and clinical resources, tx options, and how to navigate resources, including school-informed consultations.
