Short Bio or Description of your Practice (Optional)
Jean Sullivan Hanson, Ph.D., brings many years of experience to her work with individuals, families, children, and adolescents. She believes in helping people build skills and address their problems in very practical ways. Her approach relies on a thorough understanding of context and a careful exploration of each person’s story: their family history and early experiences, their relationships and social connections, their strengths and resources, and their physical and medical status—all in the interest of helping her clients build greater self-awareness, resolve onging struggles, develop more effective life strategies, and make better use of available supports. She earned her Ph.D. in 1990 and has since worked in a variety of settings (public schools, residential treatment centers, special education settings, pediatric rehabilitation, and private practice). Her clinical orientation emphasizes strengths-based, goal-focused, family systems, social networking, and cognitive behavioral strategies. Dr. Hanson is also a certified EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) provider.
